MOONSHOTS · Hybrid research infrastructure

Research Operating System

A durable research substrate where humans, neural models, symbolic state, formal tools, experiments, and computation can accumulate coherent work over time.

OBJECTIVE01 / 08
PROGRAMMoonshots
STATUSLong-horizon research goal
IMPORTANT LIMITThis is a direction, not a completed result.

This page describes the goal, work that already exists, and the main unresolved problems. It does not claim scientific validation, deployed capability, external adoption, market value, or inevitability.

WHAT THIS GOAL MEANS TODAY

The current interpretation, footholds, and open problems.

Where the research is unresolved, the description remains provisional.
01

The target is not an AI that does research by itself. It is an operating environment in which heterogeneous actors can inherit explicit state, execute bounded work, attach evidence and provenance, and leave the institution in a better inspectable state.

02

Current footholds include Corpus Forge, recursive research-system architecture, durable registers and queues, work transactions, evidence surfaces, and sustained human-agent repository construction. Open work includes a rigorous symbolic state model, cross-agent continuation, auditability, failure repair, and measurable supervision cost.

Operational test

What would count as progress

The Research OS earns credibility when work can persist and compose across actors without relying on hidden conversational reconstruction.

  1. 01

Typed shared research state survives model and session changes.

  2. 02

Independent workers can inherit bounded state and produce reusable additions.

  3. 03

Work units retain inputs, constraints, transforms, outputs, evidence, and validation status.

  4. 04

Human review cost decreases without hiding failure or authority boundaries.

  5. 05

Accepted outputs remain useful to later work instead of evaporating as one-shot generations.

WORK THAT ALREADY EXISTS

Current projects and research that move this goal forward.
